magpie tendencies

It's proving impossible to keep my magpie tendencies in check.
Meet my latest obsession....the milk bottle top.
Crazy I know.
But they're so quaint, and old-fashioned.

And I console myself with the idea that they at least
take up a lot less room than the bottles themselves!
Brunnel, as always, raises his eyes to the heavens, whenever a parcel is delivered.
But these can be delivered under the radar in an envelope, so really he has no idea as to the extent of the obsession, or quantity tucked away.

I'm not yet sure what I'll do with them.
At this stage I just like looking at them - often.
Maybe I need to get a life!

  1. I think collecting is in the genes. There are lots of things I just know I'd love to collect, but it's just not possible, plus I'd get in trouble from Lyn. He already thinks I have a hoarding problem. If I were you I'd get my goodies sent to the shop and Brunnel would never know! Boy I'm sneaky :)

  2. Ooh, loving this fancy of yours, Amanda! I'd frame them. They'd look brilliant. And Sarah's on the money with that tip ☺. J x

  5. I too have a collection of these and I have them framed and hanging in my kitchen - where they have become a trip down memory lane for many of our visitors! I am of course far too young! :-)

  6. At least its a collection which doesnt take up much room. How old are these...I only remember the foil type,(maybe I'm not that old after all) I used to love collecting the bright coloured tops as a child. I think red was for cream and silver for milk, there was also emerald green and sapphire blue, maybe they changed the colours sometimes... my memory fades.

  7. I agree with Jane above, they'd be awesome framed. Or perhaps you could turn them into fridge magnets or something?

  8. Fridge magnets? Then B couldn't complain they're totally without any usefulness. Geez Jan brought back memories with her comments. Do I feel old - you bet I do!!
