just bits and bobs

Are you a collector of things? You know, just bits and bobs?
I can't help myself.
Especially if it has a bit of a font, or is made of paper.
At any one time my bedside drawer is a cornucopia of cards, old letters, swing tags, labels, old notebooks, stamps, special papery things the girls have made and other such bedside trivia.
When the drawer becomes impossible (which is fairly often) I tidy it up, tie everything into little bundles with string, rarely throw anything away, and start again.
After all, you just never know when that brilliant idea requiring an old label will strike.
I also have an old filing drawer in the kitchen.
It has a special label - 'etc'.
I find that much can be filed under this too!

Collector or hoarder?

  1. I say "collector" but ask the other half and he'd say "hoarder". It's probably a fine line, though I am able to throw out food that's out of date, so I'm probably ok. Have you watched Hoarders? My goodness, it makes be look minimalist though I do understand their mindset.
I find it almost impossible to throw out cute swingtags so I use them as bookmarks :)

  3. I save those things too. It's not hoarding, but not quite collecting. Treasuring?

  4. I collect things, but not EVERYTHING, otherwise the tidy orderly part of my brain cant cope. I agree with Jen, its more treasuring certain things. I believe hoarders are a completely different breed altogether.

  5. A collector, but in the last few months of spring cleaning I think I am going to be a more pickier collector, if that makes sense. My collecting is more objects/items that have some kid of sentimental connection. So I guess that makes me a sentimental collector :-) giggling at that.

  6. Not hoarding unless it gets to the point where you can't open the front door.
I think it's essential reference material or treasured memories or visual diary material, The trick is to keep it organised and be judicious when saving! Easier said than done for me. Penny x

  8. Definitely a collector - I too have a 'special' drawer in the kitchen where all the lovely things I 'collect' go. I do like the idea of bundling them up when things overflow....

  10. Hello Gorgeous I relate to this post so much. That said, now we're sorting through my Dad's things, I've become more selective. J x
