Need some instant storage and shelving options? Enter the humble beer crate, which has cleverly upcycled itself into the perfect storage solution. A quirky yet practical idea for books, kids toys and playthings.
Or as seen here, for shoes, and in the home office of this Auckland home, featured in the latest issue of Urbis magazine.
And for those of you who think some of the graphics in the graffitti artwork look familiar, but you're not sure where you've seen them - have a closer look at some of your favourite Federation tees, or your kids favourite minti tees (from Small Acorns of course). This home just oozes the personality of these popular street wear labels, so it comes as no surprise to learn that this is where co-directors and owners Nick & Jenny live. Diamonds in the sky on the wall. and a minti lightening cloud applied to an old picture. I love the vibrancy of colour together with a little urban grunge & eccentricity. It's a very cool space.

Wow I love it. Wish I drank beer. Does beer come in crates anymore? xoxo
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea, where did u source your crates from? Paige
ReplyDeleteThey look great! Having a lot of them together works really well - it turns the whole vibe from Beerdrinker into Stylista.
ReplyDeleteOh, really cool! I like the idea of them mounted on the wall, it makes them so much less, well, dorm-like! Love!
ReplyDeleteSo very clever! But I didn't know you could still get beer crates either...
ReplyDeletehey hey
ReplyDeletenice to find ur blog :D
Well maybe it's just little old New Zealand but I do believe you can still get beer in crates. There is certainly a good selection of beer crates at places like Trash Palace here in Wellington.
ReplyDeletePaige, I picked my soft drink crates up in various second hand stores. I know they're getting scarce but on a lucky day you never know. The Gilberds ones came from Napier, the original home of the Gilberd factory. Happy searching!
We had heaps of these crates which we used to store props years ago. Most of them ended up at the dump. Some great ideas here, more very cool styling solutions.
ReplyDeleteAhh - I use my beer/schweppes crates for similar things. Oh Amanda could you spend more time berating me for not visiting blogs. I promise you will all smile when you see my nice white ceilingS and understand why the keyboard seems so far away, even in the evening. Going through all your posts again is a delight! Will drop by Small Acorns late November when I'm in NZ driving all the way down from Auckland to Christchurch. Love the chairs, and want to know if you would deal with my mouse problem in exchange for me ridding your house of spiders.
ReplyDeleteMy landlord and I have chatted about you - as I renovate his house for him ;-) He is thrilled and has told me I'm the best neighbour anyone could have. How can people ruin a house they live in? Isn't beauty something we need, regardless of who it belongs to? Much love
