It is an image of the iconic Cafe L'affare, here in Wellington. Heart of the immensely strong Wellington coffee and cafe scene. At least every other Saturday, at around 9am, my brother, sister and I, together with our other halves & families, meet at L'Affare for a catchup over a BCC (L'affare-speak for big cup of coffee) and breakfast. This cafe has been a regular part of our lives for more years than I care to think about. Suffice to say that when we first started going there were no children, and I was the only one married. Collectively, we now have five little girls between us. L'affare plays host to our familial catchup, squabbles, & laughs, over milkshake spills, great coffee, eggs and creamy mushrooms - because even though they're not on the menu, we always ask for them. Breakfast over, and life caught up on, the rest of the weekend then gets underway, and we all go our separate ways until next time. It's a much treasured family ritual.
By the way, if you'd like to learn about coffee roasting, and learn some barista skills, L'affare are hosting an open weekend next weekend 1st & 2nd May at their new Jessie St coffee roastery. Details here...
Now, if you'd like to play the game, I'm tagging...
Oh, and happy happy Monday!

What a great ritual to have with your family.
ReplyDeleteI just played that game too - it was fun and nice to get some comments the second time around as I'm sure no-one read my blog back then!!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great cafe - I'm not familiar with it but will add it to my must visit for when I get to NZ next - that an visiting Small Acorns of course!!! You know it's my favourite Welly shop :)
Haha! Sounds like a great challenge to take up Amanda! I loved reading about your café l'Affare and it reminded me so of the great coffee scene I used to love so much on Ponsonby Rd in Auckland. We had the Atomic and this other great café called the Sourdough on the end of my street. Ahhh - thems was the good ol' days ;-) Right - off to find my 6th photo!
ReplyDeleteMy little 'place' mentioned in one of your posts...I'm thrilled! It's been a lovely wander down 'memory lane'...and a reminder to stop procrastinating! Perhaps I need a coffee in your lovely cafe above...with a sweet treat of course!
